It is a bit late, as the year has started over a week ago, but: Happy New Year! Or as the Japanese would say: „Akemashite omedetou gozai masu!“ Have fun practicing ;)

It is January and so far I have not turned the heater on. Some people would say: What is wrong? Where ist he cold winter air? Where ist he snow? I want to wear my winter coat! - I will not say such things. I do not even have a coat and my jacket's zipper is broken - I am too lazy to buy a new jacket. Walking around in an open jacket at minus 10° is not what I am after. And by the way, I believe that winter is still going to come. So why complain if you can still enjoy a bit of warm weather?

Do not get me wrong: I am not a summer person either. Sure, it is nice when you have nothing to do and can relax or go swimming, but somehow I have not had this situation for many years. There has always been something to do, and if not, my conscience made me believe so. As a result, I always ended up racing around (mostly to a certain horse I used to look after), getting things done that will never be finished, and all this without spending a thought on enjoying summer. However, life has changed for me and perhaps I will be able to relax a bit more. Although I really miss it very much, it was (in some respects) a good decision to part with the horse that after seven long years has almost come to be my own (in the truest sense of the word).

I guess I am more of a spring or autumn type – but that part when it is not raining.

I could write an anecdote about how Germans (including me) complain too much – but I will do that another time.

Just one more thing: Did you make any New Year’s resolutions?
For my part, I just want to be a good student. And lose weight, just a little bit! That would be marvellous.
