New term - new challenge...

Good afternoon!

University has started over this week and I am beginning to realize that this semester is going to be a very busy one. I am happy to be back and have classes again, but I am also afraid that I might not manage all the work this time. I am approaching the Zwischenprüfung (intermediate examination) in English Studies and have to do two classes on literature this semester - both of them demanding a term paper consisting of 15 pages at the end of the term. This weekend I will do a "reading-marathon" in order to finish two novels appearing in a quiz next Wednesday... I hope I am going to make it.

The spring weather is being awesome right now in Trier. There is nothing but sunshine. Until yesterday there were temperatures of up to 27°C! Today, they have dropped to about 15°C.

These are two of my special friends I have been writing a term paper about for the last two months or so. They unified Japan at the end of the 16th century putting a stop to a rather anarchic period ("Sengoku") when a lot of warlords strived for control over the provinces.

Oda Nobunaga (top) started the unification process and Toyotomi Hideyoshi (bottom) took over after Nobunaga had been assassinated.

Unlike the way it may appear on these drawings: Oda Nobunaga was the more radical ruler. Mostly he is mentioned in sentences like "beheaded X and burnt Y"...
